Selin's Columns 

John Selin was born on 2-10-1978 in a pentecostal christian family. He was tried by his pastoral dad to be grown in the discipline of christian faith and beleifs but his dad's trial seemed tribulations and tortures to himself. He beyond the imaginations of his dad went into the pleasures of the world. Mistreatment of the beleivers in his own church and his social friends paved the way to enjoy the pleasures of the world without peace and far of God in his life. it is not to critize anyone but it is to say that Selin learnt quickly to adopt the world.

He became a head ache not only to his dad but also to his church beleivers. He was in spite of those actions, he became dear to all his society...because the natural habits of helping mentality, easily extented its hands to the society. 

Whenever he was asked to help the beleivers, there was a tention between beleivers and himself. because all the belivers took advantage of the helps and supports rendered to them by him. ( Support in the sense, to help them in their homes and thier livelyhood which means, his dad's concept is however pepole want to come to church and be saved) illtreatment, immoral behaviours created a bitterness in his life. He could not reaveal to his dad because the belevers would threaten his dad. in the sense, he was abused...

As he grown, his critic nature, bitter heart, angry personlity and rebellious attitudes had been also grown along. He and his dad all the time went into fight, his father wanted to discipline him in a traditional way but he wanted to escape from his dad's ways.

His those mentioned character also accompanied him in his schoolings. he was liked by most of his teachers because of the assitance works done to the teachers. But, when his rebellious character reached high momentum, even the teachers could not help him. Naturaly intelligent boy but his company and attitudes were not upto the mark, reported by the teachers. Less grades but high rebellious spirit. His conduct certificate also shown bad.

Failures in producing good reports to his dad caused more even worst at his stay at home. His dad decided he wont be good if he would be at home, so he wanted to put me in hostel for the course of industry. It was a christian ITI. He was forced to get up early in the morning, tragged by the seniors. Tention between them and himself arosed again as it was in his schooling. His warden a wise man perceived the situation and made him stay at his garden. Within six months his garden became a field of grains. His warden was so happy. The mistreated behaviour of his beleivers as mentioned earlier, now started to raise in him, his secret life went into filthy and ugly immorality, he was found and wanted to be sent back being accused of his immoral behaviour.

At this junction, life became tightened...no body wanted to have him, some supportive voices were raised up but went down due to the strong abuse. It was under a tamerine tree...a clear and dangerous voice stopped him, saying "if you go like this you would die..turn your ways, i want you"....It clearly stopped him, Whose sound is this? He felt something broken, sinful, and helpless...

This is where, the divine work of the Lord came to him, he started to recollect his memory of christian views, the Lord started to fill his heart and wept for his immoral conducts, rebelloius attitudes, and asked forgiveness of his sins, and wrote a letter to his dad to forgive him and said he would do the ministry for the Lord.

It was then known to the Director of industrial school, with their help, he was sent to Southern Asia Bible College, everyday became a miracle, failure guy started to learn English, tried to spend more in His presence, tried to examine his hearts and wept for his sinful actions,,,,mostly spent midnihgt in the ground praying and seeking the will of God, as the time went he was about to finish his bachelor degree, heard the clear voice form the Lord.." behold I am coming soon.."

Got graduted in the year of 2002 and found an oppertunity to go to Andaman Nicobar Islands in Indian union territory as a missionary. It was where, he laernt waht was his call, spending nearly two years in Andamans, no fruits by him but there were lots of changes happened within him, that was the training ground. He was moulded and shaped for His call. He was confirmed byt the Lord about His call.

Then, for time being worked in Chennai under a pastor and went to New India Bible Seminary for the Master of Divinity program and there where the Lord used him to find his passion about his call. From there, he was given an oppertunity to work under a British Missioanry Rev. Richard Champerlain in Master Builders' Team. here, the Lord was good enough to teach about the Leadership qualiites and management skills.

It was with Rev. Mark Billage yet another experience for nearly one and half years, where the Lord taught him about the basis qualities of leadership, that are about simplicity, humility and freedom in Spirirt. During this time the Lord brought Jeni Angel to his life in marital wedlock. He has been now blessed with two kids, namely Jane Raphela and Jane Jeirah.

When the fulness of time came into His life, he started to implement about the call he has for the Lord. His vision for training the servants of God in the discipline of pastoral counseling,  evagelistic apologetics, Spirirt filled leadership and ethical teaching have been given birthed in the form of Yeshcol Bible College. His training ministry anlog with preaching, teaching and counseling spreads around where he lives. YBC also has more than four centers around Tamilnadu with nearly sixty students.

It is the Lord who makes the small beginning into a next level. God is so faithful that to continue His work through His people. His ways are amazing to bring right partners at right time to fulfill his plans. Uncle Gordon Billage and FG charitable Trust whose sacrificial commitment have been a great encouragement and timely blessings. Really it is noteworthy to glorify the Lord on behalf of their service towards establishing His kingdom in India. we thank the Lord for the such family and trustees who have been helping us to lay foundation along with Christ for the work which the Lord has entrusted upon us. 

His contribution to the Indian Church about new theological courses are fantastic. His introduction of Pastoral psycholgy and counseling & Christian apologetics and evangelism to the christian field in India gets more attention now the days. These are the courses developed for Master level programs.

His major focus and vision are to prepare the body of Christ through the servants of God for His second coming and He wants to see the body of christ edified for His return.

History of Yeshcol Bible College

1.              History         

In the year of 2008, October the 7^th there was a small group of people assembled together under the unfinished roof of an incomplete rental building at Kalladimamoodu in KK Dist, Tamil Nadu, South India to witness the birth of a divine vision named by Yeschol Bible College and it was inaugurated by Rev. Mark Billage along with the people (nearly 33 people) gathered there by. Initially, there were three and four students enrolled respectively their names for Bth and Mdiv. But today we praise the Lord for it has grown now into more than 40 students in both Bth and Mdiv. It has been brought under Billage Educational Trust in the year of 2009 which is registered its function to the Indian Govt. Trust Act under Tamil Nadu legislation and has been conceded the registration number as follows; B/4-40/2009. It is presently relocated from Kalladimamoodu to Upper room, Martyr Selva Raj Memorial hall, Puthucodu, Aruvikkarai PO 629177.                                 

 2.              Doctrinal Stand                 

 While Yeshcol Bible College staff and students are drawn from across the denominational spectrum, and have differing views on some issues, the following doctrines are the over-arching beliefs behind who we are and what we do.

 ·                 The unity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead. The divine inspiration and absolute authority of the Old and New Testaments as the Word of God.

 ·                 The eternal Son ship, virgin birth and Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 ·                 The guilt and depravity of human nature in consequence of the fall.

 ·                 The substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ and His resurrection as the only way of salvation from sin through faith.

 ·                 The ascension and heavenly priesthood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 ·                 The personality of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of His work in regeneration and sanctification.

 ·                 The personal return of the Lord Jesus Chris

3.              Objectives  

India already feels elated of having a number of Bible colleges, theological seminaries and missionary training centers etc then why does she have to have one more?

 ·                 To have a balanced study between theoretical and practical issues.

 ·                 To have a clear comprehension of theology and applied theology

 ·                 To have a balanced perception of spirituality and education or academy

 ·                 To make known of the power of the Holy spirit as well as the power of mind

 ·                 To train candidates to be pastorally skilled, ethically sound, evangelically powerful and wise in navigating or leading in front.( Mainly pastors with pastoral counseling skills, Evangelists with apologetic nature- defending Christian faith, Teachers in ethics and Leadership) 

 ·                 To be revived and revive the nation

 ·                 To instill the power of  Faith, Devotion and fruit and gift of the holy spirit

 4.              The YBC mission statement

Academic Excellency in the Bible; Spiritual Amelioration in the Personal Life and Propulsive Mission in the Field; especially in and around the globe.

5.              Accreditation                    

The YBC is presently accredited to International Association for Theological Accreditation, USA. It has also received the candidacy membership from the International Accrediting Organization. The courses have been designed after the international curriculum in theological perception. All the courses we offer in YBC are designed and implemented through Billage Theological Academy.

A.             Availability of the Courses in YBC.                                                                

·                 Certificate or Diploma in Theology

This is respectively a one year and Two year programs organized for those who wish to study basic knowledge in the Bible and those who wish to enter in to full-time ministry. It provides training both in Biblical and practical aspects. Medium of instruction is only in Tamil

·                 Bachelor of Theology

This is a three year course which provides a candidate with an extensive training in both Biblical and practical areas. Spiritual amelioration and personal equipment are highly concentrated. It will equip the students to identify their call and gifts for the Ministry entrusted upon them. The channel of course will be in English and the minimum qualification for admission is +2 or its equivalent. Certificate of Theology/ Diploma in Theology also can apply for.

·                 Master of Divinity/ Master of Science in Theology

This is a program arranged for especially those who are intrigue in their quest of learning more of truth, spirituality and biblical knowledge comprised two or three year of intensive study. This course will impart the Biblical context and practical aspects to the students in details. The course has been designed in the way to compete student’s intellectual quotient with their spiritual hunger. Medium of this course is in English. Qualification for the course is any Bachelor degrees and special consideration is given to the mature candidates as well as ministerial experienced people.

·                 Master of Arts/ Master of Theology

This course has been designed for the candidates who want to be experts in selective fields like pastoral ministries, evangelistic field, Ethical teaching, apostolic leadership, and prophetical office. Philosophy and religion also to be concentrated. The medium of course is in fact English. Those who have completed their master degrees in their respective courses can apply for it. The mature candidates who are eligible in writing and speaking fluently in English with at least holding a bachelor degree being involved in ministry for more than seven years can be too taken into consideration.
